Job Summary
- Responsibility for promoting and selling IET membership and its associated products and services to Academic & Corporate organisations, in line with the India Operational Plan, and for increasing the IET’s market presence in Tamil Nadu.
- A high profile professional role, this position requires an enthusiastic and energetic individual with an excellent command of the English language (written and verbal), good inter-personal skills, good negotiation and presentation skills. This person will work closely with all members of the IET team in India.
Main Duties and Responsibilities (Not necessarily in priority order)
- Execute annual sales & account management plan for Tamil Nadu and contribute to the overall sales strategy and departmental budget for India
- Meet or exceed the Key Performance Indicators set out in the India Operational Plan
- Develop a detailed understanding of key IET products and services and be able to
- quickly identify opportunities around these products and services
- Execute the delivery of Academic & Corporate partnerships
- Generate leads and work with colleagues in India and the UK to maintain an up to date pipeline of opportunities
- Attend relevant events and exhibitions within Tamil Nadu to drive business development activity
- Support and oversee the account management of strategic partnerships within Tamil
- Nadu to ensure they are delivering maximum benefit to both the IET and the organisation
- Provide regular feedback from the market place on the effectiveness and suitability of IET
- products and services, identify opportunities for new IET products and services and
- understand how existing products may need to be tailored to meet customer needs
- Identify other potential income streams to support the delivery of the India Operational
- Plan and to follow up on these opportunities with colleagues in India.
- Work with IET members and volunteers to assist in promoting IET products and services
- and to identify new business opportunities
- Provide a positive and professional image of the role and the company both to customers
- and colleagues at all times
- Ensure a strong adherence to IET brand and ensure that all communications are written
- well and to a high standard of English
- Compile weekly and monthly reporting (or when required by senior colleagues) relating to sales and potential sales
- Be a proactive team member, attend team meetings and support major IET activity in
- India when a large staff presence is required (eg. major events, President visits)
- To undertake any other duties and projects at the request of the line manager.

- Educated to MBA or equivalent
- Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written
- Strong relationship management skills and confident team player
- Minimum Two years’ experience working in a business development or sales
- environment, with significant project management responsibility
- Proven track record of meeting targets and delivering to tight deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Demonstrates imagination and creativity and an ability to work autonomously
- A positive team member who has the ability to communicate and work effectively with
- colleagues based in remote locations, as well as in the same office.
- Self-motivated and willing to work flexible hours and travel/stay away from home when
- required
- Good IT literacy
Desirable:
- Business degree or equivalent
- Experience working overseas for an English speaking organisation
- Experience working within a professional membership body or similar organisation
- An interest or involvement in the Science, Engineering and Technology sector
